With a reputation for impeccable craftsmanship, Art Gilding has undertaken hundreds of significant projects in Australia, Europe and Asia.

Australian projects include Sydney Town Hall, Shangri La Hotel, Star City Casino, Intercontinental Hotel Sydney, Admiralty House, Russian Orthodox Church, various prestigious office buildings and the Golden Chariot of the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Worldwide, Art Gilding’s unsurpassed reputation has led to many significant commissions including the Stamford Hotel Singapore and the Petronas Twin Towers in Kula Lumpur.

Art Gilding has also completed many private projects in residential and commercial premises. From restaurants and multi-million dollar yachts to private residences, Art Gilding has created hundreds of stunning finishes.

Your master craftsman 45 years in the making

Art Gilding was founded in 1975 by Karl Eggert, a Master Gilder who trained as a church restorer in Cologne, Germany. Karl is one of the world’s pre-eminent experts on metal leaf gilding with over 45 years of experience.

He is passionate and devoted to this fascinating craft and takes great pleasure in the long-lasting effects of his work. Gilding was once a secret craft, passed only from Father to Son, but today, Karl enjoys teaching this fine ancient craft to students in his Art Gilding Academy.

The Art Gilding Academy is not only a unique teaching establishment but also runs a gilding studio and regularly takes on outside commissions (architectural gilding)

There is no other place in the world that will teach you every aspect of gilding in a nine day professional Master Gilding Class.

During these nine days you learn more than you could in a three- year apprenticeship as we provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere to all our students who always enjoy the fun in the studio.

Under the tutelage of Master Gilder Karl Eggert, students have the benefit of 50 years gilding experience.

For your benefit, we take only four students per class.

On completion of the Master Gilding Course you will receive a certificate, you also become a lifetime member of our Goldfinger Club.

This entitles you to free ongoing support and help with every project you undertake in the future as well as a 20% discount on all A 1 materials you purchase. (see current pricelist on Website)

Completing the Master Gilding Course will not only add skills to your chosen profession, but also offers you the freedom to build up a business and work from home.

During the year we also invite our Master Class students to join the Art Gilding team on a number of gilding projects to offer them hand-on experience under the watchful eye of the experts.
